What It Does
Bitwarden is an open-source password manager. It generates strong, unique passwords for every account, stores them in an encrypted vault, and auto-fills login forms across all your devices. The vault is encrypted with AES-256 before it leaves your device—Bitwarden cannot read your passwords even if their servers are compromised. This matters because a reused password on one AI tool that suffers a breach exposes every other account that shares it.
Setup in 5 Minutes
and install the browser extension
(Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).
- Create a strong master password—this is the only password you
need to remember.
- Import existing passwords from your browser or another manager.
- Install the mobile app for auto-fill on your phone.
- Enable vault timeout (lock after 15 minutes of inactivity).
Try This
Audit your existing passwords: open Bitwarden's Vault Health
Reports (available on the web vault) and check for reused passwords, weak
passwords, and accounts exposed in known data breaches. Replace your five
weakest passwords with Bitwarden-generated 20-character random passwords.
Enable auto-fill and notice how much faster logging in becomes.

$$ Reports. Run every available report: Exposed Passwords, Reused Passwords, Weak Passwords, Unsecured Websites, Inactive 2FA.
- For each reused or weak password flagged, click the entry, generate a new 20-character random password, update it on the actual website, and save.
- Enable two-factor authentication on the Bitwarden vault itself (Settings $$ Two-step Login) using Authy or a hardware key.
- Set up Emergency Access: invite a trusted contact who can request access to your vault after a configurable waiting period.
- Re-run all reports and confirm zero reused or weak passwords remain.
